THE CITY OF ORANJESTAD ARUBA
Oranjestad had a population of 106,050 in 2008. It is the capital and most important city of the Island of Aruba. It lies on the southern coast near the western end of the island. Oranjestad is the historic Dutch capital of Aruba, where the traditional, tall, multicoloured houses combine carved wooden doors and typical Dutch tiles with open-air patios. The city is named after the first King Willem van Oranje-Nassau (William of Orange-Nassau) - the first heir to the Dutch House of Orange
