Explore the Jewish history of Old Shanghai during this unique and informative visit to the city's most renowned historic Jewish sites.

Depart the pier for the drive to the Ohel Moishe Synagogue, former site of Jewish haims and ghettoes. The Ohel Moishe Synagogue is now open to the public, not for religious practice but as a museum, with many pictures recalling the past of Shanghai's Jewish community.

Next, you will continue on to see Houshan Park and the Hongkou area, where thousands of Jews who escaped from Nazi Germany, Austria and Poland came to settle and live during WWII. In Houshan Park, you will find a memorial tablet that is inscribed in Chinese, English and Hebrew. The plaque is dedicated to the approximately 2,000 Jewish survivors who emigrated to this area, and the friendship of the Chinese people who made it possible.

Next, your drive will continue through the former French concession area. En route, you will be able to see the former Jewish Theatre, now the Lyceum Theater, and the Jewish Club, presently the Shanghai Conservatory. You will also visit a former Jewish home that currently serves as the Arts and Crafts Research Institute. Here, you will see a variety of workshops producing silk embroidery, woolen needlepoint work, paper cutting, dough figurine-making, and more. You will also explore the area around Zhoushan Road and Gaoyang Road, formerly the site of Jewish haims and ghettoes.

Following your tour, you will re-board your car or minibus for the return drive to the pier and ship.
